We promote sustainable innovations

On May 7, 2026, the third “Night of the WINGS” took place at the Bocholt campus of the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences. This year, the flagship networking event for industrial engineering once again brought together students, alumni, and local industry representatives to discuss research projects and opportunities for collaboration.

As a sponsor of the event, we were once again honored to support a special highlight: the presentation of the award we sponsor for the best master’s thesis in industrial engineering.

This year, the prize went to Rick Schlusemann. His award-winning master’s thesis, “Development of a Standard for Determining the Product Carbon Footprint for the Saueressig Group,” combines scientific depth with direct practical value. The tool he developed enables the company, for the first time, to precisely calculate the carbon footprint of its products, identify emission drivers, and thus apply a real lever for sustainable transformation.

Organizer Prof. Dr. Christoph Brast drew an all-around positive conclusion and already looked to the future: Due to the great success, there will definitely be a fourth edition of the “Night of the WINGS” next year.

We look forward to continuing to support this valuable exchange between the university and the regional business community.
